A Life of Luxury

Luxury is relieve and extravagant living. Luxury is becoming so used currently as we hear a lot the word out side the box, and many more.

In the past luxury was considered to be there for wealthy people, and then things have changed to the middle class, and now it is available for everyone. Because the definition of luxury has changed, now it more likely to be for any precious things that someone has. Over generations, our idea of what is luxurious has changed greatly. Now, not only do we want a product that works well, but it is very important that it looks good too.

Today having old objects is considered as luxury, while other people might consider it as garbage! It varies between generations and people's backgrounds.

What’s wrong with plagiarism? By Gunner Swanson

Plagiarism is mainly stealing or copying some one else work, it is ethically and decently wrong. But does plagiarism include stealing an idea. As a graphic designers we observe plagiarism in a different way, we need to research and glance at other people's ideas and concepts in order to come up with our own different thoughts. This is where the line between illegal use and inspiration becomes unclear. In my opinion, if you put two people's work next to each other it will be very obvious they will have the same thoughts, whether it was plagiarized or inspired.

Additionally, maybe thousands of people come up with the same ideas in the world but each one proceeds with it in their own way and comes out with a unique perspective of it.

So there is nothing wrong with having the same ideas, as long as you have your own personal process to go with the end result.

I ❤ NY By: Steven Heller

I love NYis a famous logo, and slogan. It was spread all over the world. I know recognize it since I was young.  But I wasn’t know what is it for or what the idea behind the logo. Like many other people they do not know the concept behind it, but I am pleased that I got the chance to know.

What is interesting why do many countries took the, I love NY and made others and why people would like to buy it. For example, I love Paris, and I love Jeddah. Maybe because people usually like to buy things remind them of the places they have visit.

Personally I am against stealing or using the same designs because by the time they are going to lose their identity! But this is how things are going nowadays, but what is interesting is that  I Love NY will never lose their identity; everyone knows that it is the original one.

 

 

Comparison between "manufactured landscapes" & "Running Fence"

After watching both documentaries, " Manufactured Landscapes" was so much more powerful than " Running fence". Because it got the audience so involved in the adventure. The concept behind it, grasped the message that the artist was trying to convey.

 It strongly grabbed my attention, the way it was presented that brought depth to the issue and pushed me to know and understand more about it. Also the photographer, the way he saw things, they way the director made us see it from his lens taken from the photographer composition. It was a enormous project.

 While the running fence, wasn’t good as the previous. The whole process wasn’t interesting. And doesn’t have a great concept behind it. T was some how boring. The result is just the intrusting part of the movie.

 

 

Second movie:” Running Fence” by Christo and Jeanne-Claude

Running fence is a documentary set in united stats; the idea was to follow Christo and his wife Jeanne Claude on their adventure of installing their art piece by the name of " Running Fence". It crossed fourteen roads and the town of Valley Ford, leaving passage for cars, cattle and wildlife, and it was designed to be view, in Sonoma and Marin Counties.

The idea behind the task was to get the people of the land that the fence crossed together. Fence was made out of fabric and grounded by poles. The fence went through fields and farmlands of many locals and for them to do that, they had to take permission from these locals to build the fence across their lands. It took them around four years to prepare, and it only lasted 14 days before it got removed.

 After the project was over, they made an exhibition displaying pictures of their project and their piece of art across the lands and the ranchers of those lands traveled far to that exhibition just to see what they were a part of.

 In my opinion, having such projects and such installations, at the beginning no one appreciate it, and people feel that there is no reason behind it, and it’s just a waste of time and money! But in the end, after seeing the results, as a graphic designer, I was amazing work. After accomplishing this huge fence. It might brought some destruction or people did not like it, but I am sure at the end they got something superior or a great memory after it was established.
